Create Rainbow Wonky Umbrella Pillows

Create Rainbow Wonky Umbrella Pillows

Earlier in July I released a fun FPP Wonky Umbrella Block pattern. I still really wanted to make a rainbow version that I mocked up like this:

Kristy Lea of Quiet Play has THE BEST new rainbow fabric line out now from Riley Blake and of course I knew this rainbow version of my block needed to happen!

I decided to make the pattern using both the 12" and (4) 6" blocks and make them into pillows. I used light turquoise thread (#5006) to quilt wavy lines in the large wonky umbrella and Fuchsia Aurifil thread (#4020) to quilt a diagonal grid with the mini wonky umbrellas. I love the way the colors pop against the Navy solid!

And to top it all off, I used the rainbow striped print for the binding. Um, yes!!!!

If you'd like to make your own Wonky Beach Umbrellas, you can go to the post about them HERE and get the pattern for FREE.

I'm also using this awesome fabric for a baby-sized sample of my new pattern called the Sidestream Quilt. I can't wait to show you all the finished product when I get it all quilted up. I think I've decided that the stars are my favorite! :)

Until later, happy sewing!
