Give Thanks Retro Pumpkin Placemats

Give Thanks Retro Pumpkin Placemats

When I designed my Ghouls and Gourds pattern last year, I knew that I always wanted to do a Thanksgiving version with fun holiday inspired fabrics in the pumpkins.

I saw this new fabric line from Riley Blake Designs by Sandy Gervais and I totally fell in love! I know you are thinking that these colors are not my normal jam, but there is something about this collection speaks to my retro loving heart!

This cream main print is my favorite!

And this brown plaid? Who knew I would love brown and orange together so much!

There was no doubt that I needed to make something cool, and I decided that Thanksgiving placemats were the best use this fabric and my pumpkin pattern!

For the fabric surrounding the pumpkins, I went with some RBD basics - from their Texture collection, I used Chocolate and Citron and from their Confetti Cottons solids collection, I used Vanilla. That Vanilla color matched the cream print perfectly! For the last pumpkin, I couldn't help myself...I had to use that orange and brown print from the collection. I think this basic diamond grid is a simple, but effective, texture for the quilting.

I wasn't sure about the Citron Texture background at first. I thought it might be too bright, but I totally love it!

And if you're going for 1970s retro, this Chocolate Texture fabric is where it is at! It really works well with this line!

I can't wait to pull out these adorable placemats for the Thanksgiving! They are so festive!

The Give Thanks collection is available now and is on its way to stores. If you're interested in my Ghouls and Gourds pattern, you can find it HERE.

Until later, happy sewing!

Jamie
