Make it Modern Pillows with RBD - Floating Fragments October 2023

Welcome to the October 2023 installment of the Make it Modern pillow series that I created for Riley Blake Designs! In this series, you'll find a collection of 18" modern pillows with a bold modern geometric design that you can easily customize for any space.

Find some quilting inspiration with this fun and fresh modern quilt block tutorial! Grab your favorite quilting fabric and thread to whip up your own quilted pillow to enjoy at home or give as a gift. Great for both experienced and beginning quilters, this quilt project will quickly jump on your to-do list!

In case you missed it, September's pillow used POParazzi by the Riley Blake Designers. The colors I used were Grape, Orchid, Violet, Peacock, Aqua, Powder, Blue, and Navy. I love this new fabric line!

For this month's block, I used rectangles and triangles to get a semi-improv look. It definitely has a mid-century modern vibe which you know I love!

Blues and greens are always a winning combo! This month’s pillow features Shabby fabric by Lori Holt. The colors I used  were Turtle, Jade, Alpine, Sea Glass, Peacock, Vivid, Soldier, and Denim.

I did a classic grid at 1/2" with my 50wt Aurifil thread.

I am also excited to tell you I made some fun freebie printables packet to help you plan out your pillow! They include a FABRIC PLANNING PAGE, a COLORING PAGE, and a FABRIC LABEL PAGE. To get them emailed to you, fill out the form below to join my email list!
