In January I started a new series for 2021 called Jumbo Blocks Rock where I take traditional 12" blocks, upsize them to 18", and give them a modern twist. Each month I've been also making a fun pillow using assorted basics from Riley Blake Designs. In case you missed them, here are the pillows from January, February, March, April, and May.
For this month I made a Boxed Basket Remix block which jazzed up the traditional Boxes and Baskets block.
Pindrop is another really great basic from Riley Blake Designs! Just like Blossom, it helps to hide seams when you are piecing sections together! They are both designed by Christopher Thompson, AKA The Tattooed Quilter.
For this month's pillow, I used Pindrop in Blueberry as my main print. Then I used Small (1/8") Gingham in red, Swiss Dot in Navy, Blossom in Red, and of course Confetti Cottons solid in White as the background. The back of the pillow is a CC solid in blueberry, though you can't really see it since I opted for no binding this time.
Since it's the end of June I couldn't help making something that was 4th of July themed!
Again, it's crazy how different this looks when you put a pillow inside!
I love this mix of Reds and Blues. It think it's definitely fun to mix the different basics prints together too!
Usually I'm a fan of binding, but I kind of like the clean look of the edges here!

There are so many great colors in Pindrop! What colors would you use for this pattern?
I can't wait to see all the block and pillows everyone is making! Be sure to tag me @sewbrainy on Instagram so I can check them out! See you next month!
Until later, happy sewing!
